C-concrete helps build Quooker’s multi-year vision
Quooker Ridderkerk
The company known for “the crane that can do everything” continues to grow strongly, and on May 13, 2025, we celebrated the start of the construction of a brand new, sustainable logistics high-rise warehouse for Quooker, with a height of 30 meters. This marks the start of the first phase of an ambitious project that will bring together all business activities under one roof: factory halls, storage, offices, service center and showroom.
Quooker made a conscious decision to stay true to the Ridderkerk area, with the strong bond with employees playing a crucial role for this family-owned company. During the ceremony, attended by Quooker staff, the entire construction team and all partners, a tree was planted by six Quooker employees. Additionally, the ceremonial first pile was struck by brothers Niels and Walter Peteri (two of Quooker’s owners). This pile is part of the 3162 precast and 503 vibro-piles that will be driven under the high-rise warehouse. The design of the project focuses on energy-neutral, climate-adaptive and nature-inclusive construction, with sustainability as the guiding principle.
Collaboration on innovative business building
Cordeel Netherlands, part of Cordeel Group a 100% family business since 1934, has been made responsible by Quooker as main contractor for the execution and control of the design in cooperation with Swisslog Warehouse Automation and the design team consisting of, among others, architectural firm Group A, studio INA MATT, the Urbanisten, WSP for the construction, A. de Jong Group for the installation technology and various other advisors to the realization of the new business premises. In collaboration with Quooker, both family businesses developed a multi-year vision for a compact building (three layers of industry) with a clearly recognizable silhouette and an inviting entrance. The interior is designed as a dynamic working landscape. The building’s starting point for future building phases will be green: an atrium with living plants and trees, creating a pleasant living environment and a lot of connection between the various departments. In addition, the building will feature a large roof garden for employees to use.
The Quooker faucet is the world’s first boiling water faucet. It was invented in Rotterdam in 1970. Since 1990 it has been produced in Ridderkerk. Because of its great (inter)national success, the company grew rapidly and a distribution center on Rotterdam’s Heijplaat was rented to store stock. With the construction of its own new logistics center on a plot of over 9 hectares, Quooker has sufficient opportunities to accommodate future growth in several phases in an optimal and compact manner. At the Nieuw Reijerwaard site, initially only a quarter of the plot will be built. In a number of subsequent phases, the company can expand. Keeping facilities for development, service and sales as well as production together creates the best environment for innovation and high quality. Moreover, it contributes to a pleasant working environment in which employees feel connected. The desire to build energy-neutral, climate-adaptive and nature-inclusive is at the heart of the building’s design. A compact building was chosen, with a plinth façade of lime hemp and plenty of greenery in, on and around the building. This not only promotes biodiversity, but also contributes to the health of Quooker’s many hundreds of employees.
