Prefabricated hollow walls

Hollow walls are lightweight precast concrete walls constructed from two pre-cast walls, each ±6 cm thick. On site, these walls are filled with fresh concrete and provided with joint reinforcement to form one solid, watertight structure. These walls combine efficiency, strength and insulating properties and are ideal where full walls are impractical due to weight or lifting capacity, such as in basements or certain floors.

Hollow walls: construction and properties

The structure consists of two predals placed on top of each other. The reinforcement of the first predal is embedded in the fresh concrete of the second predal, creating a strong, one-piece structure. This system provides:

  • Waterproofing: the joint between the predals is filled with concrete and reinforcement.

  • Flexibility: can be applied higher, but full concrete walls are sometimes easier on floors without groundwater pressure.

  • Insulation options: C-concrete can also insulate the walls by adding insulation to one of the predals before stacking.

Applications of hollow concrete walls

Hollow concrete walls are versatile precast elements and are used in a variety of construction situations:

  • Basement walls: ideal for watertight structures where full concrete walls are too heavy to lift and install efficiently. Hollow construction allows water pressure to be withstood without sacrificing strength.

  • Facades and higher floors: hollow walls can also be used on higher floors or as facades, provided the right logistics and lifting capacity are in place. They combine light weight with structural strength, making them suitable for larger projects.

  • Insulated walls: for projects where thermal comfort is important, hollow walls can be constructed with integrated insulation. Prefabricated insulation between the prefabricated walls increases energy efficiency without additional work on site.

Why choose prefabricated hollow walls?

Hollow concrete walls combine efficiency, strength and ease of use.

  • Light and strong: by being constructed with precast pre-cast and full concrete, the walls maintain their strength while the weight remains significantly lower than with full concrete walls.

  • Waterproof: joint and reinforcement between the predals provide a solid and waterproof construction, making them perfect for basements and other wet environments.

  • Prefabricated efficiency: the walls are fully prefabricated and quickly installed on site, saving time and labor and simplifying execution.

  • Flexible application: suitable for basements, facades and floors where weight or lifting capacity may be a limitation. The hollow walls can also be insulated if required.

Frequently asked questions
about hollow walls

Do you have questions about hollow walls? Here you will find answers to the most common questions that can help you make the right choice for your construction project.

What is the difference between hollow and full concrete walls?2026-05-12T07:55:07+02:00

Hollow concrete walls are lighter during installation because they have an open structure internally, while full walls are completely solid. Hollow walls are therefore easier to handle and faster to install.”

Are hollow walls suitable as load-bearing walls?2026-05-12T07:55:06+02:00

Yes, hollow concrete walls can be perfectly used as load-bearing elements, depending on the type and application. They combine lower weight (during assembly) with sufficient load-bearing capacity.

Can pipes or insulation be incorporated into hollow walls?2026-05-12T07:55:06+02:00

In many cases, features such as insulation can be integrated during production.

Are hollow walls fireproof?2026-05-12T07:55:06+02:00

Hollow walls in precast concrete meet common fire safety requirements.
