Sustainable building starts here

With a production capacity of tens of thousands of cubic meters of concrete per year, we can invest in technologies that really make a difference: from water treatment to transport optimization. That economy of scale makes sustainable choices feasible and affordable for our customers.

Unique concrete composition

The biggest challenge in concrete production is cement. Cement provides the bond, but its production is environmentally damaging and responsible for a significant portion of CO₂ emissions. Therefore, we have developed our own formulations in which we use alternatives to cement. We provide project-specific LCA data and contribute ideas on how our concrete compositions contribute to a higher BREEAM score. In this way, sustainability becomes visible not only in our production, but also in the projects we realize together. The result? Faster commissioning, lower site costs and an efficient business plan.

Self-compacting concrete from our own plant

Because we have our own concrete plant, we are not dependent on third parties. This allows us to produce self-compacting concrete according to our own sustainable recipes. Self-compacting concrete also has advantages: it flows out by itself, requiring less energy during processing and a high-quality finish. The result? Faster concrete pouring, lower site costs and an efficient business plan.

Transport by ship

Our location on the Scheldt River is unique. Whereas many manufacturers are forced to rely heavily on truck traffic, we can transport both raw materials and finished products by ship. One ship easily replaces more than a hundred trucks. This not only means a drastic reduction in CO₂ emissions, but also less pressure on the road network.

Conveyor for raw materials

For the supply of sand and gravel, we use a conveyor belt from the quay to our concrete plant. In this way we avoid countless truck trips and limit the burden on the environment. Here, too, the rule is: less traffic, less emissions.

Water recovery in dry dock

For the production of concrete, water is indispensable. We deliberately choose water from our dry dock, which is filled with rainwater. This way we limit the use of tap water and close the cycle to the maximum.

Filtration and reuse of residual concrete

Residual flows are given a second life with us. Concrete that remains after production or processing is not simply disposed of, but filtered and reused. This is not only efficient, it is also a way to drastically reduce waste streams.

The result? Lower site costs and an efficient business plan.

Green standards and certifications

We train our employees to be environmentally conscious and make special efforts in green technology, reducing our carbon footprint and social commitment. C-concrete is ISO 14001 certified. On the basis of an environmental aspects analysis, we set targets and seek continuous improvement.

Sectoral cooperation: the concrete agreement

Sustainability does not stop at our factory gate. We believe that the entire sector must move along towards circular concrete. That is why we signed the Flemish Concrete Agreement, an initiative that removes technical and administrative barriers. By cooperating with other manufacturers and sharing knowledge, we accelerate the transition to a more sustainable concrete industry.

Smart use of steel, less residual waste

Not only concrete, rebar also deserves attention. In our iron forging shop, we cut and bend rebar computer-controlled. That means less residual waste, more efficient use of materials, and thus a lower environmental impact. Every ton of steel we use smarter makes a difference.

Sustainability is not a trend or obligation for us, but a conviction. By investing in innovative concrete compositions, alternative transport solutions and circular processes, we show that concrete does have a future as an environmentally conscious building material. At C-concrete, we believe that whoever builds also bears responsibility for the generations to come.

In part by using solar panels and other renewable energy sources, we want to make our energy consumption more sustainable and reduce our carbon footprint even further. This is how we are building a truly green production environment step by step.
